The Low Life
It's been a while since i blogged. Typical. Since my last entry I have been severely depressed, had a second back injection, been down in the dumps and gone shopping.
Back injections. I have major back pain due to a bulging disk in my back. The injections are supposed to do 2 things. Reduce the swelling around the disk so that the back can calm down and shrink the swelling. The first time I got the shots I felt awesome. For 4 weeks I was like my old self. No Pain. Then slowly the pain crept back. Not as bad as before but still there and still a serious negative.
This time I go the injections and the feeling was no the same. I still have pain. It's less but I feel like they missed. And that feeling sucks.
Someone just IM'd me to say they wanted to some see a show. They read about my comedy stuff by going to my website (this one) and they found that via my iChatters listing. Weird. We'll see if the guy comes. I think it would be kind of cool.
In a weird thing. Jodi gave me an article she saw in this magazine about being a good dad. Turns out she didn't read the article at all just the title. The article was about a guy whose father committed suicide shortly after leaving his wife. Then about how the author almost followed his fathers suicide path when he got divorced. Then it goes on to explain how to be a good dad when you get divorced and how not to aggravate your ex. It was a little weird. She claims no subtext...
I am glad I didn't play the NCAA pool at work this year. I would most certainly have lost. As I did last year. Hooray.

Great show Doctor
Gunshow performed last night. It was awesome. A great bounceback from the previous show, which while fine and funny was kind of a clusterfuck show of weirdness and sex. We had great scenes. Really funny. Good pace and build with great walk ons and so on. It was fun and once again we make the smallish audience bust a gut. The show had it all. Crushed birds, invasive doctors, Dr. Atkins ghost, a dancing bear and a guy who goes to the clinic twice a week to have a prostate exam because he's into ass play. It was awesome.
Afterwards we went to McManus, which is the comedians dive bar on the lower west side. I saw Armando there. My encounter with him was odd and mildly unsettling. But because of it I got to meet Horatio Sanz. That was brief and friendly but left me feeling odd. Most of my meetings with famous people are like that... sigh.
At the bar praise for the show continued. I think this is the 3rd show in a row where someone I don't know has complimented me on the show. Apparently the Dr. Atkin's sketch was superduper.
After all that I went on another "Everyone should grow mushrooms" rant. What can I say... I'm a psychedelic dreamer.
Today the family went to the New York Armory Art Show. It was a huge affair. 3 hours of walking through galleries. Nothing too awesome but some nice things here and there. Ace was a champ the whole day but Jodi got sick! Boo.

Rhino Attack!
As I worked the elliptical machine I was watching TV and listening to my iPod. On the news I witnessed some kind of mock Rhino attack staged at some zoo. It was hilarious. Two people wearing a paper mache Rhino outfit. Just silly. People cowering on the ground. Others shooting it with darts. It made me laugh out loud.
I got positive feedback on my Godzilla sketch. It's looking good.

Can he make it?
I tossed Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo this afternoon in an attempt to try and be more productive. I stand by the fact that I am a seriously kick-ass FPS gamer. That statement and a dollar gets you the Chockful O' Nuts breakfast special which just so happens to be coffee and a donut. So far I have thrown out about 15 games from my computer. The hardest to toss was Medal of Honor. It's not just the personal satisfaction of beating the single player game. It's the sheer joy of killing people all over the globe. Being better than them and infuriating them. That was the best in MoH. I regularly cleaned up. Sigh. I am simultaneously proud and ashamed. How often does that statement apply to me? Try... 70% of the time. (I'm really into percentages this week. Something like a 83% rise in the use of percentages.)
Anyway I set to writing and came up with some good lines for the Godzilla sketch.
Ace and I had a great time swimming today. All the dads I mean (actually like 97%) love Ace's name and actively seek him out to say "Hey Ace" and point him out to their wives. "That's Ace" they say. I know they are going to name their children James or Randal. The father will secretly hate the mother for making him follow the out moded tradition of remembering you elders by re-using their shitty re-used name. BORING. Ace is also the champ under 1 year old swimmer of the classes he's been in. All are amazed by his grace and poise in the pool. And that he doens't constantly pee. I am only assuming the other children pee constantly.
Paintball season is rapidly approaching. Unfortunately I will miss the closest game to me in ages. It's at West Point and it's on my fucking birthday. Go figure. It's a 24 hour senario game so there's no way I can get away with going. Suck town. All the rest are in PA or MD. Booooooo.....
Fuck this. I have to write some more! Later for you.

Weekend recap: Went to the transit museum in Brooklyn. It was cool. My bro came over and watched Ace so Jodi and I could go out and party. It was Purim so there was like mad Hasids running amok.
Today I found out that I snoozed on the kids VHS tapes I'd had my eye on for a long time. The night tech lady snagged all the good ones including the one I was eyeing forever. The beginners chid spanish tape. When I came there was a pile and I knew I'd missed my window. The fucking window was open for weeks. I'm just an idiot. Still I was hoping she'd let a couple tapes go but no dice. That lady holds on like a pit bull! All I got was a tape on learning German for kids and some lame bus video. She claimed that our receptionist got the lions share of the tapes but every tape I had mentally earmarked was in her pile. Boo.
Tonight I did a VO for a Sun Microsystems commercial or something. It went really well. I was worried because I caught some kind of minor throat cold thing but lozenges and plenty of fluids kept it at bay. It was nice hanging out with the old gang. I hear it has gotten to be a better scene there than it used to be. The capper was that I got paid $50 for it so that's another milestone. Getting paid for lending my voice to stuff doesn't happen very often.
Came home and Ace was beside himself tired but wouldn't go to sleep. It was pretty rough. The screaming was a volume he hadn't reached before. I forsee tantrums beyond description.
Haven't written a lick of comedy in over a week. Gulp.

Calling all cocks
I just sent an email to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater manager asking if I could borrow all their dildos. They have a show that involves a ton of rubber dicks and I hear that they keep them in the freeze for entertainment when they aren't being used in a show. I really hope they let me borrow them. I want to shoot a ton of opening montage material for Friday the 13 Incher.
I am a little concerned that no one will get the reference to the show Friday the 13th The Series. My reason for concern? No one remembers that show at all.I point people to the legion of fan websites and then people tend to recall not watching it when it was on. Kind of a drag.
Am I the only person who hates that Naked Chef guy on Food Network? I think his tounge is 5x the size of his mouth. For some reason when I think of the sound of his voice I am filled with the desire for it to cease. Like forever.
Saw a image sequence of a sunset from mars. It was blue. It made me think of
Capricorn One. That's the movie about the Government faking a landing on Mars. Really bad but it captured the iimagination of the people in the 70's what with all the fake moon landing news. Huh? O.J. Simpson is in that movie. Pre-murder of course. I think he gets bitten by a snake and dies in the desert. Just in case you were wondering.
Work? Sucks.

Whee iTunes Whee
I bought my first iTunes music store tunes tonight. After receiving 25 bucks in potential iTunes songs for Xmas I was chewing my nails off for 3 months. What should I get? Is that cool? Can't I just get that off aquisition or posioned? Well I determined that no I couldn't get the original B-52's album, or specific songs off that one album, via the cheaty ways. So I bit the bullet and bought about $13 worth of B-52's and proceeded to rock and bounce in my chair.
Went to the shrink today. Is it a bad sign when he just looks at you with a lost "geez... that does suck. I have no idea how to help" look?
Well off to play some more Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo! That's right. I said Demo.
