The least informed, easily scared, bible thumping rural voters. They have no idea what they are talking about and they get to vote. If you wanted to show some impassioned left wing nut jobs I am sure they would sound equally dumb but probably not as clearly racist and afraid. Maybe they'd sound more crazy though because they would probably have a litany of conspiracy theories about the Illuminati and 9/11 for you. But they would probably know more real facts, too.
